Does Intelligence Equal Success?

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.” - Albert Einstein

We all know many intelligent people who don't seem to be able to be successful in a business or in relationships.

The article below provides some information on how intelligence is measured and how it is perceived in our society.

Michael Wilkovesky

How Important is Intelligence For Success? - by Royane Rea

Although IQ tests measure a certain aspect of intelligence potential, there isn’t complete agreement that what is being measured is actually intelligence.

Standard intelligence tests focus a lot on exploring and measuring linguistic/logical/mathematical ability. But is that really the same quality as intelligence? Or is intelligence something broader than that?

We have all met people who have a lot of “book smarts” but seem to have no “life smarts.” Should we really be saying that they are intelligent? Some people who did poorly in school often turn out to be very successful in later life. Why do our current IQ tests seem unable to predict or explain these outcomes?

A person may have failed dismally in school, and yet turn out to be a genius in marketing. Is this person stupid, or brilliant? If a man is a great scientist, but can’t ever pick a suitable mate, is he really very smart?

Was Picasso inept because he wasn’t also a brilliant mathematician? Was Einstein inadequate because he wasn’t also a great artist?

Which of these two men had more intelligence? Is there more than one kind of intelligence? How should we define intelligence? Can we really measure it? What is intelligence, really?

Several experts in the field of intelligence have proposed that we need to broaden our understanding of what intelligence really is, and the role it plays in successful living.

Psychologist Howard Gardner of Harvard University has suggested that we should consider a wide range of talents and abilities as valid forms of intelligence.

In his intriguing book, “Frames of Mind: Theories of Multiple Intelligences”, Gardner has proposed the existence of at least seven types of intelligence: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, social-interpersonal and intra-personal.

Another psychologist, Robert Sternberg, has suggested we consider three distinct forms of intelligence. One type is the ability to think logically and rationally, doing well in an academic type of environment.

A second kind of intelligence identified by Sternberg is the ability to come up with creative solutions to real life situations. And the third type, according to Sternberg, is the ability to psychologically understand people and interact effectively with them.

A very different perspective on the IQ issue is presented by Daniel Goleman in his best-selling book, “Emotional Intelligence”. Goleman offers an explanation for why a high IQ does not always lead to success in career or in life.

He says that EQ, or emotional intelligence, has been an overlooked factor that is an extremely important ingredient for success in life. An ability to get along with others, to be optimistic, to be determined, are among the many factors that contribute to success, perhaps even more than intellectual ability.

Are you starting to realize that intelligence is not just a question of one test score number that forever limits your possibilities? If we define intelligence primarily as an aptitude for mathematical and linguistic/logical thinking, we may be missing other forms of intelligence that are also important.

If you happen to know your own IQ score, don’t think of it as something that limits or defines your potential. If your IQ is in the average range it does not in any way mean you are limited to a life of average success and average accomplishment. If your IQ is in the above average range, it does not guarantee you a life of ease. You can’t use either a high IQ score or a low one as an excuse not to try very hard.

Your IQ score is only a number. It does not define you. It does not really limit you. It’s just a starting point. Remember that many other qualities you already possess or can develop are also important for success in life.

Proven Principals to Escape The Rat Race

A rat race is for rats. We're not rats. We're human beings. Reject the insidious pressures in society that would blunt your critical faculties to all that is happening around you, that would caution silence in the face of injustice lest you jeopardise your chances of promotion and self-advancement.” - Jimmy Reid

We all want to be better people as well as having time to be with friends and family. Unfortunately, most of us need to work.

The article below gives 7 principals that can be used to escape the rat race. While the examples are related to Internet marketing, these principals will work in anyone's life.

Escape The Rat Race By Using These 7 Proven Principles - by Merv Stevens

Successful internet marketer Joel Peterson, recently gave a talk on how to escape the rat race by using 7 proven principles. During the talk Joel gave some information on his past and how he used to work in corporate America but managed to escape that way of life nine years ago and has not looked back since.

So what are the principles Joel used to make this amazing transformation to a life of success and enjoyment for him and his family. Well he used 7 Proven Principles ANYONE can follow to escape the rat race.

Principle #1: Know Your Why

A few years ago Joel didn’t even know the meaning of the phrase “know your why”. He was not into personal development and the last book he had read was a Harry Potter novel.

But now things have changed. Joel is an avid reader constantly renewing and improving his mind. His big “why” is spending time with his family, going on trips together and attending his children's school events. This “why” has given him the desire and motivation to do what it takes to succeed in the network marketing and internet marketing arena.

It needs to be deeper than just getting more money or the big fancy house or car. It needs to be written down so that you can refer to it and remind yourself of what what your working towards when things get tough. Everyone’s “why’” is different, but you need to identify yours and work on it.

Principle #2: Your Beliefs

This is a big, big, big one. You have to believe that whatever you are doing can really work. It’s not just believing in the company you are with or the opportunity, but believing in yourself. You have to have the belief that YOU can accomplish things and that it can happen for you. And how do you do that… you need to hear the testimonies of other people who are achieving success. This can be done by logging into company calls and webinars or by attending events.

People are attracted to positive people and so you have to put any negative attitudes you have aside. Start using positive words in your language and remove negative words like “can’t”.

Principle #3: How You Treat Others

Unfortunately there are some internet marketers who treat people more like dollar signs rather than real living human beings. They do not care what type of product or services they sell as long as they are making money. We all know there are great internet marketing products out there, like Pure Leverage, which you can sell knowing that it will be of value and benefit to others. However, there are also a lot of scammy products that do not work and are a waste of time and money.

The unscrupulous internet marketer will sell all kinds of products, whether good or bad, and look upon their customers as numbers from whom money can be made. But a business run in this way will not last. If you want to build a long-term sustainable home business you have to stop treating people merely as dollar signs.

You have to remember that there is a real person behind everyone of your transactions – a person just like you. If you start respecting your customers and thinking about them as real people then you will go onto build a profitable business with large and successful teams.

Principle #4: Taking Action

This is huge because when many people first get involved in a business they very get excited. They come to the seminars, go through the courses and may even get a blog. But unfortunately they do NOT do the actionable things required to build a business. When you start out you have to be focused and take action on the things that are really going to help you grow your business.

Even better than hypnosis Escape The Rat Race By Using These 7 Proven Principles

If you are consistent in these actions then you will achieve success. When you get results then you will get more excited and take further effective action that will grow your business even more. But what is the #1 action to guarantee success? Invite people to take a look at your business opportunity. There are a number of ways to do this. You can invite people online or invite people in person.

If you focus just on this one action and invite people to take a look at a video, a presentation or attend a seminar, then you will achieve success. If you are not inviting everyday, whether that be on your blog, on your newsletter or in person, you will not have as much success. Even if you are the worst inviter, if you do enough of it, you will get better and in time become a master inviter and recruiter.

Principle #5: How You Handle Failure

A lot of the time people look at a successful marketer like Joel Peterson and say “Oh, but you’re so successful and everything you do turns to gold“. But he had failed in many business previously, from a windscreen repair company, to solid waste disposal management and network marketing. Joel learnt from these failures.

If you quit and just curl up in a ball and turn the TV on and go back to your life of “quiet desperation” then you have a problem. Do not be afraid to fail. All successful people have had failures but they have learnt from them and used them as stepping stones on their path to success.

Principle #6: Keeping It Simple

Internet marketing can be a complicated business – choosing a niche, building a blog, finding keywords, driving traffic, etc. But you need to focus on simplicity. Do a few simple things over and over again and teaching others to do the same, is all you need to build a successful business online.

Here’s the thing…. when you focus on those simple activities and you plug yourself into what is called the “School of Involvement”, over time you will learn those things that you think are complicated. Focusing on the simple activities will generate income now and those other things will take care of themselves. If you are trying to learn to much at one time and complicating things, then you are not keeping it simple and you will get over-whelmed.

Principle #7: Duplication

A lot of people are not aware of what duplication means. It means getting a group of people to do a few simple things over a consistent period of time. Once this happens then the people you teach will have success and the people they teach will also have success. Before you know it you will begin to get forty emails a day of downline signups and customer signups.

What happens as your business starts to grow is that you will find people who will begin to grow their business without needing you because duplication has occurred. This will happen as long as you follow a system that is simple and you teach other people to follow the same simple system. In this way you can grow a very large business.

You’ll have to watch out for the “Internet Marketing Hustle”. A lot of internet marketers live from product launch to product launch. They create a product and then launch it relying on JV’s (joint venture partners) to promote it. This is then repeated again and again – the “Internet Marketing Hustle”. In this way you haven’t really created a business but just a glorified job, working crazy hours.

This method of business does not have duplication. Having a business with duplication pays you by leveraging not only your won efforts but also the effort of others. Focus on leverage.

The principals mentioned above will help you get rid of the chains that keep you tied to the corporate world. Focusing on these 7 Proven Principles and taking action will bring you success. Concentrate on the things that you want to overcome, have belief, be consistent in taking action and eventually you too will escape the rat race.

Release Your Negative Self-talk to Succeed

Relentless, repetitive self talk is what changes our self-image.” - Denis Waitley

We all have some negative self-talk that is really holding us back from success.

The article below gives 10 tips on how to release this negative self-talk and improve your life.

Michael Wilkovesky

True Life Success Secrets: Top 10 Secrets To Releasing Negative Self Talk - Author: Tammy Matthews

Learning to control the negative self talk that's robbing you of your enthusiasm for life can unleash your potential to live a life full of endless possibilities.
Focus - What you focus on plays a definite role in what you allow yourself to believe is possible for you. It also plays a definite role in what you're attracting into your life. If you find yourself constantly focusing on the negative things in your life then you are attracting more negative things to come into your life. By learning to focus on the good things in your life you create a better environment to manifest the life you dream of.

Your Story - The story you tell yourself about what you deserve in life is what you begin to believe. Whether you tell yourself that you're capable and deserving or incapable and undeserving, you're going to be right. What do you want to be right about? Tell yourself the story you want to live.

Replace - When you find yourself having a negative thought about yourself you have the option to not finish it. Cut the negative thought off and replace it with a more powerful positive thought. This may take a little work at first, but in a short period of time it will become natural process you welcome into your positive lifestyle.

Even better than hypnosisBe A Friend - How do you treat your friends? If they make a mistake do you call them on it? Do you belittle them for not being perfect? No! And it's time to stop doing it to yourself. Decide to treat yourself with the same respect and positive encouragement you would treat your friends. If you would pat them on the back for trying, do the same for yourself. Be your own best friend and discover the feeling of being proud of your accomplishments.

Journaling - By writing your thoughts down on paper you will begin to realize just how destructive negative self talk is on your happiness. You will see a visual account of your positive and negative thoughts and have the ability to better recognize which thoughts you need to find replacements for and which thoughts you need to pay more attention to.

Create - Be constantly aware of what you want to create in your life. Choose the emotions and attitudes that are present in your life. Focus on the present moment and let the past be the past and the future be the future. Your life originates in your mind first. What you consistently think about is what you create. So, create the life you want to live.

Energy - Decide to stop wasting your energy on negative thoughts and unproductive thinking. In your mind it is a thought, but in your body it steals precious positive energy you require to live an abundant life. Demand the positive energy that will brighten your day and over time change the way you live your life.

Gratitude - There is no better way to attract positivity into your life than to be grateful for the good things you already have in your life. Spend some time daily thinking about the things that you presently have to be grateful for.
Invite - Each day wake up and verbally invite positivity to be a part of your life. Get excited and say out loud what you demand of the day. Jump up and down and empower the positive vibration to become the driving force in your day.
Demand - Don't just hope that you can release the negative self talk, Demand It! Make a conscious decision to negate your negative self-talk and replace it with positive thinking.

Your success on self improvement

Get busy and release your negative self talk once and for all. Allow yourself to invite the happiness you deserve to manifest in your life. And demand that your life be overflowing with positive outcomes.

Six Things Your Life Coach Doesn't Want You To Know - by Judy Widener

There are many confusing and false messages bouncing around in cyberspace about life coaching. After coaching 600 people over the past 13 years, talking with dozens of coaches and surfing the websites of about 100 more, I'm sharing my take on what coaching is and isn't. I'd like to say upfront that my intention is not to offend or denigrate. I'm simply stating my informed opinion, which is best taken with a grain of salt.

It's important to start with the fact that the field of coaching is unregulated. This means that anyone, without any formal training, can call themselves a life coach. And they can coach any way they please. So caveat emptor! The onus of choosing the coach who will serve you best is on you.

In my research, I've found that there are basically 2 kinds of life coaches, and the contrast is stark. There are coaches who say they'll hold you accountable and help you stay motivated until you achieve your goals. They tout their excellent listening and questioning skills as their core talents. In my admittedly unscientific survey, about 99% of the coaches I have met in person and online fall into this category.

In the other camp are coaches with excellent listening and questioning skills who say they'll help you develop new ways of thinking and behaving. These coaches have studied and developed specific techniques that you can learn, then apply to any issue for the rest of your life. The goal of this type of coaching is for you to master the skills, using them independently to attain your desires faster, more efficiently and more enjoyably.

In my opinion, coaching that goes on indefinitely, with you relying on the support of your coach to achieve goals (but not learning new skills) is codependency, not coaching. Intentionally or not, anyone who does this isn't a coach, they're a parasite. True life coaches have a set of strategies you can use to evolve yourself for the rest of your life. Beyond merely achieving goals, coaching is about your growth as a human being.

With that said, I do believe that all coaches have a genuine desire to assist. However, most coaches' training (if they have any) is, well, the nicest words I can think of are...incomplete and, in some instances, inappropriate.

With that background in place, let's peek behind the curtain at the biggest secrets in coaching.

Secret #1: Promising You Instant Results is Impossible

The Industrial and Information Ages have proliferated a plethora of gadgets, pills, books and videos that promise instant results. Not surprisingly, you've been programmed to expect that coaching will immediately make your life better.

Accordingly, many coaches feel strong pressure to fulfill this expectation by producing some kind of dramatic “breakthrough” in every coaching session. The idea is that if the coach asks you the right deep questions, you'll have a brilliant flash of insight. There are two fallacies here. The first is in thinking that coaches “do” something to their clients. In fact, it's up to the client to take the actions that will produce the results they're looking for.

Second, coaching is a process, not an event.

While you may see some improvement in one session, life-altering, permanent improvements take time, repeated focus, and learning new ways to do things differently. Of course, major shifts can happen, but both you and your coach will put unnecessary pressure on yourselves by trying to force you to make a huge change you don't need or aren't ready for.

Sure, questioning is a major part of coaching. But the role of questions isn't to sledge hammer you into a dramatic breakthrough. Questions are one tool used to guide you in your process of gaining incrementally deeper self-knowledge. The goal of coaching isn't to rush to get it done, it's to help you learn as much as you can.

The processes of learning and making internal shifts in thinking is as unique as fingerprints and as unknowable as the depths of the ocean. It takes whatever time you need. Even with the biggest crystal ball in the world, no coach can promise a specific result by a certain date.

Any coach who tells you that you'll achieve a certain level in 1,3, or 10 coaching sessions is ignoring your individuality and your responsibility for your own growth. This is inconsistent with the basic philosophy of coaching.

Secret #2: Personality Tests are Worthless for Choosing Your Career

The widely accepted myth of personality is that, by adulthood, it's set in stone. But in 100 years of intense study, psychologists can't even agree on the definition of personality, much less the limits of its development.

Two popular personality tests that life and career coaches use are the Myers-Briggs and the DISC. Their thinking is that you should choose a career that matches your personality (shaky ground indeed).

The purported benefit of this strategy is to narrow the overwhelming field of career choices. To alleviate your suffering, the coach squeezes you into one of a handful of boxes, then hands you a relatively short list of careers that some undefined percentage of those with your personality type could be “successful” in.

Never mind that these tests have no scientific validity. Meaning, you could take the same test on two different days and get two very different results. On top of that, these tests compare you to arbitrary norms (which are gender, ethnicity and culturally biased), ignoring your individuality and your context.

The icing on the cake is that since studies have shown that the Myers-Briggs does not predict job success well, using it for this purpose is expressly discouraged in its manual. But inexplicably, lots of coaches make gobs of money doing just that. That just seems unethical, or at least antithetical to the spirit of coaching.

text 6 300 250 Banners
The DISC is based on the faulty logic that you possess one of four personality types, which can be teased out by forcing you to choose one of four options for each question on the test. What if you don't agree with any of the choices? If you choose enough options that don't reflect what you truly think, the results are less than worthless. They can be destructively misguiding.

The best coaches will tell you that your personality traits are simply patterns of behavior you've developed (and gotten comfortable with) over your lifetime. As a pattern of behavior, any trait can be consciously changed any time you like, if you have the tools. Accordingly, their conversation about your career won't use the strategy of matching a job in Column A to a trait in Column B.

Secret #3: Taking Action For The Sake Of Action Undermines Your Real Power

To achieve the results they tout, coaches preach action. Lots of it. They think that if you do more, you'll get more, faster. They'll sell you fancy spreadsheets and planners to track your actions, too.
But in all of this act-act-act, you can lose sight of your motivation: why you want what you want. It's by staying focused on why you want something "the benefits of having it" that you'll find the juice to keep pursuing it until you get it.

As I stated in my previous post, most coaches describe their role as holding you accountable to take big actions before the next coaching call. Their strategy is that you'll be motivated by the desires to avoid the humiliation of having nothing to report, and this scheme does work. Avoiding humiliation is a strong motivator, but it pulls you away from your greatest source of power: your passion.

So accountability is the default strategy for coaches who don't have any tools to address the real issue: how to deal with the negative thoughts that block you from freely pursuing your passion.

The best coaches don't rely on your human drive to avoid pain (humiliation, guilt, etc). Instead, they fan the flames of your motivation to seek whatever you're passionate about.

Secret #4: Success Isn't A Destination, And You Can't Possess It

Coaches talk a lot about achieving success, as if success were a thing you could possess. Well, if it were, then success would also be a destination. Once you achieve it, you'll be able to sit back and coast for the rest of your life.

When you're driven to succeed, you allow yourself to feel good only after you've completely achieved that desire. But in this scenario, the good feeling eventually fades, which prompts you to go after another goal so you can feel good again.

However, there's a huge difference between being successful and having a fulfilling life. Success is a distant external goal you might achieve someday. Every day until then is about work, effort, sacrifice and pain. Deferred gratification.

On the other hand, when you choose a fulfilling life, every step you take in the direction of every desire becomes an act of fulfillment. You experience fulfillment as an internal choice that creates a perpetual state of being: you feel fulfilled every day.

Secret #5: Success Doesn't Require Discipline. Even If You Think You Need It, You Have Plenty Of It

Coaches insist that it takes discipline and commitment to be successful. But you already possess all the discipline, commitment and courage you need to get anything you want. You just don't know it, you certainly can't feel it and you don't need it, anyway. In their defense, most coaches are unaware of this, too.

Here's the proof: If you've ever worked a job you didn't like for more than 10 minutes, you have discipline. My bet is that you've worked for years at jobs you found boring or otherwise uninspiring, did favors for others you didn't want to do, and performed admirable household chores to boot. That takes HUGE discipline!

So give yourself some credit. Just because you struggle to lose 10 pounds doesn't mean you're a wimpy, undisciplined loser. It just means you don't know how to focus yet.

After coaching 600 people, I've seen that you don't need to develop strong skills of commitment, courage or discipline to enjoy a fulfilling life. All you need is passion.

text 6 300 250 BannersYou see, passion isn't just a feeling, it's a tour de force. When you engage your passion, tons of energy, discipline, courage and commitment (more on this next) come along for the ride. What's true is that it's your nature to think about, talk about and pursue the object of your passion until you get it. When you think about it, discipline and commitment are just synonyms for the desire to stay focused on what you want until you get it.

But discipline is a heavy word. Baggage-laden with guilt, frustration, disappointment and failure. Coaches are useful for easing the weight of that baggage only if they emphasize the pursuit of passion as the basis and driver of every goal.

Secret #6: Commitment Doesn't Create Limitations You “Just Have To Live With”

There's a pervasive belief in our culture that making a commitment creates limitations. When you choose one career or one mate, you're essentially un-choosing every other possibility. You're stuck with your choice, forever sacrificing other attractive options.

This perspective misses an important point. Ultimately, a commitment is an expression of your freedom to choose. Once you choose, you're free to express yourself fully in the context of that career, relationship, hobby, whatever. And as long as you live, you're always free to choose again, and again, and again...

When you order the fish, you've excluded the steak or the chicken from that meal. But from herbs to cooking methods to side dishes, there are innumerable variations on any food you choose. Don't forget that every meal also includes a salad and a dessert; more ways to satisfy your palate. The point is, there are infinite ways to spice up your career, your relationships, and every other part of your life so that you'll feel full (fulfilled) every day. The only limitation is your imagination.
You can't earn a living without choosing a career path. You can't have a fulfilling romantic life without a beloved. So choose the steak career or mate. Or the chicken or fish career or mate. Just choose, live and learn. You can always choose again if you discover you need to do that.

Let Your Destiny Manifest Itself To Attain Life Success - By: GEby

What drives you? What is it that defines your entire persona? What are you living for?

Unfortunately, most people have are way ward of the very purpose they exist. Can you remember those days of your youthful exuberance when you undoubtedly believe you can achieve anything? Filled with unfathomable enthusiasm and driven with a determined resolution.

Sadly for most those days are long gone, they are the ghost of their former selves. Battered and beaten by the ravages of stress from work, society and life itself. So many haven’t dreamed in for so long that they actually don’t know what they want any longer! Don’t you think it’s time to stir up that dream inside of you? Your dreams and your destiny are not determined by “CHANCE” but by “CHOICE” It is solely your Decision.

The life you have now is the result in direct correlation to the Choices you’ve made in the past. But, sometimes you are hindered and stuck in mediocrity because you were afraid to make a sound Decision. You are just flowing along the stream that forces of nature roll you along. The kind of cavalier “Que Sera Sera” attitude is not only inexplicable it’s repulsive and inexcusable. Isn’t it time you got involved with your own life? Isn’t it time to start living through your own Decisions and take responsibility for your actions, be it the Choices you make in your life.

It’s your life, live it the way you see fit. It is a concept so simple yet people indignantly miss it therefore missing out how prolific it really is!

I believe that you can attain anything in life if you act on it and persevere to achieve it regardless the hindrances looming over. It’s your Decision, it is your Choice!

Quoting from Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland… Alice asked the cat, “Would you please tell me, which way I ought to go from here?” The cat answered, “That depends a great deal on where you are heading to.” Alice exclaimed, “Oh, I don’t much care.” “Then it really doesn’t matter which way you go, the cat remarked poignantly.

What are you trying to accomplish with your life? What do you want to attain? It’s your Choice, you are in direct control. Take responsibility for your actions and refrain from blaming others for your failures! Make a sound judgment for your Decisions, start by getting serious and get going! Life goes on, with or without you!

Here is an inspiring quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Never let anybody steal your dream or vision!

You need to make a Decision! Don’t go on through life idly staving away when there is boatload of opportunity in front of you. It is much easier to make a course correction that it is to get started! It takes careful planning and solid preparation with corrections on the side. But before they can do that they had to make a Decision to take off first.

How do you process a Decision?

It is vitally important to grasps all the concepts. Never make 100% assumptions while only having 10% facts. It is illogical and impractical, you need to consider various solutions and objectively evaluate their consequences. Weighing the best and worst case scenarios, and then make sure that the Decision is congruent with your Goals, Plans and Mission statement. Lastly you must always effectively convey your judgment to your support team.

An ideal support team would be your family members, close friends, relatives who are helping out your cause, refrain from consulting with those who are dragging down.

Remember you are the architect of your life. You must be willing and able to make Choices. Your destiny is determined by Choice not by chance!

Why Set Goals?

In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.” - Robert Heinlein (1907 - 1988)

We all want success and our lives to be filled with those things that make us happy and make us feel good. We need to set goals to ensure that we are actually moving forward in our lives and not standing still.

The article below gives some good advice about goal setting.

To your success

Michael Wilkovesky

Goals Setting For Success - by Kirby Key

Imagine living a life of all night parties, and cocktails, and twenty four hour fun. Next picture yourself as a business manager or the owner of a doctorate degree. What sounds better to you? Ultimately, you decide what you want out of life. Happiness is something that you need to pursue. In order to achieve your dreams, though, you need to clearly define your goals.

Goals Setting: The Importance of Doing It

Goals set, why? If you want to gain success in your life, goals setting will prove to be important. Setting and achieving goals involves thinking deeply about what, how and when to accomplish those settings.

Whenever you do this, all of the efforts that you make will be directed to this goal. If it doesn't in some way contribute to your plan, then you are just going to have to weed that activity out.

Don't mistake this for not having time for relaxation and recharging. Time management play an important role in reaching your goals. Don't foist your unfulfilled dreams off on your children.

Always keep in mind that your children may have different goals than you do, and imposing your goals will only create a gap.

Like others who have made their goals as a part of their routine they need years after they plan for such goals to achieve it. Setting goals in your life can be important to some, not to others.

Defining Your goals are determined by what factors?

You must clear your mind before you start the goal setting process. Goals do not simply appear out of the blue. The goal you set comes from prior experiences which have reinforced what it is that you wish to get out of life.

Keep in mind that any new goals must not be contrary to those you are trying to achieve now. For example, you have arrived at the peak in your career as a school counselor and you decide to become a photographer in the next three years. Due to this circumstances setting having your own counseling clinic as your goal seems more reasonable.

These goals should be positive and fairly lofty. Goals that are too easy do not present challenges. Keep in mind, too, that it's important to set a time schedule for your goals.

Time constraints encourage you to work hard using the fastest method possible. Lastly, you must write down all the details of your goals in order to have quick access to them.

Becoming an Expert in Goals Setting

You simply cannot stop yourself from learning more, now that you have an idea of how to set goals for yourself.} If you'd like to achieve more goals, then you can't stop researching how to achieve them. Setting your goals in order is followed by learning in depth goals setting processes, which can then be used to achieve success with larger goals.

You must keep abreast of updated changes as technological advancements are constantly evolving. Moreover, if you go to seminars, read both electronic and print sources, and practice goals setting each time, you'll develop and then master your abilities in this particular area. What you really want to come away with is a keen ability for effective goals setting.

The road to success is paved with you sitting down with effective goals setting sessions. The quicker you drink it all in, the sooner the desired results will follow.

Law of Attraction – Being Positive Helps and Other Things

Every great work, every big accomplishment, has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision, and often just before the big achievement, comes apparent failure and discouragement.” - Florence Scovel Shinn

We have all heard of the Law of Attraction, and we all want to use it to improve our lives, whether money, relationships or health.

How do you ensure that the Law of Attraction will actually work for you.

The article below gives some practical tips for making the Law of Attraction stronger in your life.

To your success.

Using The Law Of Attraction And Its Benefits - By: Felicia Fillmore

Making the Law of Attraction Stronger with Positive Thinking

Having a a great attitude plays a big part in using the Law of Attraction. If you have an attitude of optimism and positivity, you will have a powerful effect on your environment. Remember Murphy's Law? You know, "whatever can go wrong, will!" Smiling broadly and adjusting your posture so that you're sitting up straight might be a good way to help turn your mood around. Can you feel a difference? Immediately, your blood stats pumping faster and your confidence is elevated, and you know that you're up to whatever life throws at you! Would you rather hang around someone who is brooding all the time or with someone who has a happy disposition in life? As you adopt and maintain that positive outlook on life, you'll see that you'll be getting more and more of the things you want in life! A positive outlook will always help you to see positive things, both in the people around you and in the circumstances they're in. Positive people attract positive things and negative people will only attract negative outcomes.

Visualization and the Law of Attraction

Now that you've got a positive outlook, you need to set yourself a concrete goal! What's your most serious desire? The job of your dreams? A new car? The kind of romance that novels are written about? Draw a mental picture of yourself having achieved that goal. Keeping that picture in your mind can help you focus on that goal, but having a real picture helps even more! Try making a vision board. Get a cork board and put up pictures of what you want. All sorts of things can distract you from your goals, no matter how strongly you visualize them. Your vision board will keep your goal constantly in sight.

Making the Law of Attraction Stronger with Affirmations:

The Law of Attraction is made much more powerful when affirmations are used. Strong affirmations can help you stay aligned with what you want. The Law of Attraction will work best for you when you believe that the achievement of your goal is critical to your happiness. Part of setting your goals must be to believe - really, truly believe - that you deserve to achieve them. Try this reinforcement method: as the last thing you do before going to sleep at night, write out one or two sentences outlining your goals and why you want them to happen.

How to Use Gratitude to Enhance the Law of Attraction:

To help me begin my day on a positive note, I like to think of the things I'm grateful for every day as soon as I wake up. There's kind of a snowball effect that comes from that, anticipating all the positive things that can happen in the day. Being grateful is like having a positive outlook - it helps you to focus on the the good things in life. Having gratitude is a very important factor in using the Law of Attraction. There are probably instances from your life when you felt that gratitude was impossible. Just keep in mind that it is important that you take responsibility for all your actions. The influence of our thoughts on subsequent events is too often underestimated. Everything that you are going through is a result of the manifestations of the choices you’ve made and the emotions you’ve felt at some point in your life. It’s important to recognize and express gratitude for EVERYTHING in your life. Like writing down your affirmations, you can reinforce your feelings of gratitude by keeping a gratitude journal, writing down 5 things every night just before going to sleep.

Don't feel badly if you can't follow these tips and guidelines regularly, every day. You will still have days when the level of adversity seems almost impossible to overcome. By using these tips everyday, you can align yourself to what you want in life and manifest your desires.

Motivation Is The Key To Success In Each Of Our Lives - By: Aniekan Udodong

Motivation is the key to success in each of our lives. While success is something that is relatively personal, and means something different to everyone, the ultimate goal of success is to achieve a goal, or a set of goals. Let's say that you asked ten different people what they feel an appropriate definition for success is, you may be surprised to find that each of these individuals have a different perception of success. While it is true that we all have our own perception of this term, there is one thing that remains consistent and unchanged, and that is that motivations are the key to success.

There are a number of things that get us excited. Let's say that you got that new job that you have had your eye on, or you just discovered that it is quite possible to get started in a home based business that can be financially lucrative. Chances are, you are total psyched about your new found opportunity, right? This excitement that you experience during times in which you have been given an opportunity for success is a type of motivation. It has been found, in addition to excitement being a type of motivation, that motivation is also a type of excitement. In order to succeed in life, it is equally important to be excited about the dreams and aspirations that you have, and in turn, this will result in the motivation that is required to be successful.

Motivation comes with its share of complications. The most common complication that is experienced when it comes to motivation is staying motivated. While it may be easy to remain motivated for a short amount of time, it takes a great deal of discipline to stay motivated over the course of a long period of time. If you want to achieve success in your life, you must have a number of creative approaches that will assist in maintaining the proper amount of motivation to do so. It is absolutely necessary to ensure that you dedicate time each and every single day to the motivation that you need.

One of the first ways that you can achieve a heightened state of Motivation is to read book that are available on the subject. There are a number of authors that are exceptional when it comes to sharing with their readers the secrets of success and motivation. These authors include Stephen Convey, John C. Maxwell, Dennis Waitley, and even Joyce Meyer. Just dedicating approximately fifteen to thirty minutes a day to the task of reading these types of books can be extremely helpful in motivating you while you work to achieve the success that you desire.

While this is just one example of a way that you can maintain a high level of Motivation it is a very positive and productive manner to stay on top of the excitement and motivation that you need to experience in order to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. By achieving these goals, you will easily become the master of your destiny. You will truly achieve the success that you anticipate. In addition to this, you will learn effective strategies for being the best person that you can be! Get motivated! This is the key to your success

10 Ways To Motivate Yourself - By: Fadzil Dolmani

You are not the only one that feels very down because you feel dissatisfied with your current life. Do not let this feeling bring you down further. You must have some dreams in your life that you want to achieve. Lets look at how you can actually achieve whatever your dreams are by instilling self motivation, which you require most to ensure your journey to success will not end half way. You need to create and develop your own self motivation to bring you the energy and enthusiasm to pursue the dreams of your life.

You need some kind of motivational drive in anything you do. At work, you may need your colleague or boss to motivate you to accomplish your task. At home, you may need your family member to share some motivational thoughts to keep you energetic in your pursuit of your dreams. They can sit with you all day trying to keep you motivated. Again, all these will be meaningless when you yourself fail to acknowledge that you need more lasting drive to really keep your enthusiasm, that is, your self motivation. This is the quality that will separate you from the rest of the people.

Most of you may be thinking that this is going to be a very daunting task as you do not have the slightest idea of how you are going to go about this. You will be surprised as how easy this can really be done. Here are the 10 things that you need to follow:

1. Stop worrying about making mistakes.

Making mistakes is one way we can learn and improve in our life. There is no one that has never made any mistake. The most important thing here is you realize that you have made mistakes and do not repeat the same mistakes again. You will learn the most from your mistakes than any other way.

2. Feel happy about your life.

Happiness generates more positive energy within you. This energy is important to keep you more optimistic and enthusiastic about your life. Happy people are always motivated to accomplish something in their life.

3. Get out of your comfort zone.

You need to learn to get into unfamiliar surroundings to explore better opportunities. Do not just stick around with the same people, same known places, skills or work. Explore new things that will enhance your ability to achieve your goals and keep you stay motivated.

4. Think the unthinkable.

Nothing will stop you from thinking of goals you want to achieve. You have to dream high in order to set high goals. Everything starts with a dream. Do not limit yourself in your goals and dreams.

5. Read and listen to inspirational materials.

You need to allocate your time to acquire knowledge through reading motivational books and listening to inspirational tapes. But, you must also implement what you learn from your reading and listening. New things you learn from these exercises will give you excitement and energy to work harder toward achieving your goals.

6. Resolve problems instead of running away.

Your ride to success destination will not be smooth all the time. You will face difficulties. Do not quit when you experience predicaments in your quest to achieve your dreams. Frustrations and setbacks naturally form as parts of your success venture.

7. Appreciate every moment of your life.

Think of what your life really is as of now. Appreciate every moment you have currently. Thinking about the past or day dreaming about the future will not bring you anywhere. Appreciating your current conditions makes you feel much better and realize the need to move forward to achieve your goals.

8. Finish what you start.

Once you have started something, finish it. Never leave what you do halfway regardless of the end result. This will make you accustomed to finishing any task you initiate, which is important if you really want to achieve your goals in life.

9. Face challenges one at a time.

Challenges are components in your success journey. Take up one challenge at a time. Do not try to accumulate and face them at one go. As the challenges accumulate, you will only feel less motivated to face them and finally unable to complete anything.

10. Care less about what people say.

You may hear a lot of bad things people say about you. Sometimes those bad comments may come from somebody close to you. As long as you fully know what you are doing to achieve your goals, you can let those comments fall into deaf ears. Thinking too much about what people say will only make you weaker and loose focus on your effort.

Of course, this list does not just stop here. To instill and develop your self motivation, there are more ways you can do. But, if you can really comprehend and take the appropriate actions just based on these 10 things, you will definitely see the results.

Life Success Needs Rules?

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” - Norman Vincent Peale

Success, we all want it and we all try to achieve it, but many believe that they are not going to be successful.

The article below puts forward 5 rules for success. If you follow them, success is not guaranteed but you will get closer.

5 Rules For Success In Life - By: Kari Farmer

Success in life is defined differently by many different people. Some think success means having all the money you want to buy all the toys you want. Some think success is being loved by a large family and always having friends around. Whatever your definition of success is, there are some rules for success in life that should be followed in order to really be satisfied and feel accomplished.

Rule For Success #1 – Take Action

This is the biggest rule of them all. If you don’t take action then you can’t reach the desired outcome. Many people let fear hold them back from going out and getting what they want, but you will find that if you can overcome that fear then you will start achieving things you’ve always wanted to achieve.

Rule For Success #2 - Be Positive

If you are not positive then chances are you will not try. This is part of the fear. You tell yourself that you will never achieve that dream anywase so why bother. Or maybe you put yourself down and tell yourself you are not good enough, fast enough, smart enough, or rich enough to get the things you want. You have pretty much given up before you have even started at this point. Gain some self-confidence and be positive about your abilities, then go out and achieve your dreams!

Rule For Success #3 - Think Outside the Box

If you follow the crowd then you will get the same results that the crowd gets. If you step outside of the line and think for yourself, then you will get your own unique results. Those unique results will be the ones that make you feel successful, because they were defined by you as something worth achieving.

Rule For Success #4 - Don’t Always Listen to Your Elders

Your elders have a lot of life experience, and they can help you avoid making huge mistakes in your life, but a lot of what they tell you is from their own opinions and fears. Maybe they tell you that the only way to earn a safe and secure living is to work for the government. That’s simply not true. But because that is their opinion they do not waiver on it, and they can be very convincing as well.

The truth is, there are probably a lot of things they didn’t try in their life that you would like to try, and because they are fearful of it they will not accept it as a logical way to go about life. But that shouldn’t hold you back from making it your way of life. You may find happiness and success on that path, where you wouldn’t find it on the path they want you to take.

Rule For Success #5 - Don’t Listen to Naysayers

There will be a lot of negative people who put down your dreams and desires. They can influence you to stop working towards your success altogether. But you can’t listen to these people because the reasons they have don’t apply to you. You are an individual who has a lot to offer. They may be jealous, miserable, and negative people who don't believe in anyone or anything. Their opinion is a reflection of their beliefs.

An example of this is Elvis Presley. He had many negative people come into his life. For instance, he once tried out for a local vocal quartet, and was rejected on the premise that he couldn’t sing! He shortly tried out for another band and was told to stick to his truck driving career because he was never going to make it as a singer! Can you imagine if he had listened to those people? He may have given up altogether, and our world would have never heard his voice and been changed because of it.

Feeling Successful

I have failed many times, and that's why I am a success.” - Michael Jordan (1963 - )

Everyday we do things that are successful, however on most days we go home and say the day wasn't a success at all. We tend to forget all of the little things that we do each day and only focus on the negatives.

We need to do some very simple things that highlight our successes each day. One thing suggested below is to keep a Success Journal. This way you can look back and realize that the day was pretty good.

Journalling everyday for success.

How To Feel More Successful In Life, By: Kari Farmer

Every day you accomplish tasks, meet goals, check things off your to-do list, and become more successful in life. You continuously work towards having the life that you want, and everything you do is one step towards that life. But if you are anything like me you don’t feel successful every single day of your life – even though you’ve accomplished a lot in your days.

Feeling like a failure is habit-forming. We constantly focus on the things that we don’t do, or don’t succeed at in life, and we call ourselves failures because of these things. The truth is we have many more successes in life than failures but we choose to put our attention on the things we didn’t get done.

I’m not just talking about huge things that we are striving to be successful at in our lives. I’m also talking about the little things that we do every day that affect how we feel about ourselves.

Let’s say you are a business man who is trying to further his career and lose weight as well. Here’s an example of a typical day:

- Drive to work with no accidents.
- Accomplish all the tasks set out to do.
- Exercise 1 hour.
- Make an important phone call.
- Send an important email.
- Learn something new.
- Eat really crappy food the entire day.

The list above contains a lot of successes throughout the day, and one failure in the eyes of someone trying to lose weight or eat healthier. What do you think he most likely focuses on at the end of the day? His focus will probably turn to the fact that he ate really crappy food all day and take over the spotlight from the rest of his successes during the day.

This is what many people do, and it’s hard to feel successful when you focus on your failures. But there is a way to feel more successful in your life! Put the majority of your focus on your successes!

You can do this by reminding yourself every night of the successes you had during the day instead of the failure, and build on those successful endeavours for future success.

One way to do this is by keep a success journal. Every night before you go to bed write down at least 5 things that you succeeded at during the day. This will be personal to you but it can range from brushing your teeth to landing the big account! Anything that furthered you in your life, made you feel better, made you do better, and pushed you forward is a success.

Write down your success, why you felt is was a success, how you can add-on to that success, and your next action to take towards that success.

For example:

Success – Made an important phone call

Reason – Built a new relationship with an important person.

Further progress – Keep in contact with that person.

Next action – Arrange a lunch meeting for next Thursday with this new contact.

Making a habit of doing a success journal nightly will allow you to see that there are many things that you do during the day that you are successful at and it will stop you from focusing on your failures. It will also make you more successful during your day because you will be actively looking for things to do that you feel are a success and can write down later in your journal. And lastly the ‘next action’ step will keep you moving forward by scheduling in action orientated moves that build on your successes.

But remember that even failures are successes because you learn something from them. You can take what you learned and apply it to your next day. You probably realize that you don’t feel good eating crappy food and remember that lesson for the next day, so even the realization of your failure becomes a success!

Stop kicking yourself about things you didn’t do before your head hits the pillow and start focusing on your successes. Your health, happiness, and life will thank you.
